Re: Swans

A little blown on the highlights perhaps? I do like the activity in the first! Swans are rather overlooked as photography subjects, I guess because there's so many of them - but they are quite hard to get right

Re: Swans

Always find these difficult to expose for, the juvenile is showing good plumage variation. Agree with you Lost, migration is very slow up here just hope there is a last hurrah over the next couple of weeks.

Re: Swans

Thanks Laura and Mossy.....

Yes the old adage of the image being blown out when imaging swans, think ive only managed to get it right a couple of times....Think they are better imaged under cloud cover, imaging something white in bright sunlight is not always a great mix.
The Juv Swan was my favorite out of the two Mossy, i was trying to get a photo with its wings spread but as usual i was just a little too slow.......
This was one of 4 lakes visited today, all very quiet, lots of swans, coots and various ducks, the usual suspects. And migrants few and far between.....Just have to keep our fingers crossed that the skies and lakes will get a lot busier over the next few weeks

Re: Swans

Sorry Cakey, missed your comment as i was in the middle of replying to Laura and Mossy and there was only 2 minutes between you posting and me replying, and me curry was getting cold,lol......So did not hang around after hitting post button .....

Yes harsh light, sun was still quite low at this time, could not do much to better this one.....Does not help as the reservoir is about 20 feet below the pathway surrounding it, so your always looking down at what your photographing when preferably i would of liked being on the same level

Re: Swans

Most of the reservoirs around Wilstone and Tring are low down and pathways quite high up, so spoils things a little for photographing, although i suppose its this way to protect the birds a little.....
