Avenger Tiger...

Just posting this for the interest really...

if you cast your mind back to the 70's...around the era of man about the House, On the Buses, flares, the Sweet and the Slade...Flakes and Curlie Wurlies...a yellow menace was on the road...the hillman Avenger Tiger. A limited edition version of the Hillman Avenger, most went to rallying...and only a few survive. I was at a Classic Car show recently and was told there are only about 8 are on the road in the UK. Well 5 of them were there, but only 4 were lined up... posting just for the interest... any guys here in their mid 40's or 50's probably wanted one as young men at the time...or an RS2000, and any ladies...well you have stopped reading by now... (whack - around back of head !!)

I never had one, but the older lot used to go on about how great rs2000's were!

Re: Avenger Tiger...

Yes, Azz, it was only a quick edit for the interest. To be honest with a bit of work I could see it as a car mag cover shot! It was hard to get a clear shot as there was a car lined up next to the foreground Tiger, at the back etc. Might try and do some work on it.

Jols...a car gal! wow...yes, at the same show I saw several Capri's including an aston martin powered Tickford. No Mantas...always wanted a Manta but never actually got one...

OMG, I can remember them, gorgeous cars.

I am now having visions of my Dad, in brown flares and a purple nylon shirtand I'd be dancing to TOTP,pretending I was one of Pan's People, probably Slade, Bowie or Suzi Quatro, and I might of been eating a Curly Wurly too.

Really lovely cars, thanks for sharing both of you x

Re: Avenger Tiger...

Hi BC

I remember these well, as a close friend had a standard 1.6 Hillman Avenger which we tried to bring up to the same spec by buying and fitting the Tiger exhaust, cam and twin carbs. It just ended up drinking a lot more petrol really.
