Remember if it's too dark for the fast shutter speed you want - you can do a couple of things to get more light in - Use a wider aperture & increase your ISO setting.

PS

Most of mine are blurry

Christine if it isn't still ,mine are usually a blur

Why do you think I take so many flower and bench pics xxx

I am getting really fed up with not being able to get a decent shot of the dogs when out, I can only get them when they are asleep

I don't do manuals seriously, I'm dyslexic, and when it's all written down like that, it might as well be in double dutch as any language but I will give it a go

Re: Fed up, everything came out blurred

Could you post a photo which was blurred? It might help people to help you avoid the problem in the future. Don't feel bad about a missed chance. I'm sure it'll be a long time before I get this chance again

Re: Fed up, everything came out blurred

One of the most common reasons for blurred pictures is being too close to the subject. The closer you are the faster the shutter speed has to be. Far better to take a picture further away and then edit. Another cause is camera shake, this is where image stablisation comes into its own, either within the camera or in the lens. Its not the total solution but can definately help.

With pictures of something in motion either the background has to give way to a blur due to tracking the subject, or the subject matter conversly has to give way to blurring due to the background being in focus. to get both together has to be a compromise in a lot of cases.

if you look at the exif data on the greyhound picture I posted ( http://www.yophotographer.com/page.php?t=3777&page=2 )you will see the shutter speed was 1/2000 sec at 62mm on my old Nikon D70s and really that wasn't fast enough. You really do need a very high shutter speed for freezing close moving subjects, which is one reason I bought the Nikon D200 which goes up to 1/8000sec. One of the fastest shutter speed cameras around in that price bracket.

When choosing a camera you have to take into consideration which type of photos you want to shoot as part of the weighing up process of purchase.
