Re: recommended macro lens?

Could be just the individual lenses he's used perhaps? I've not yet found a lens much sharper than the Nikon 105 Certainly, of the macros I tried (and I was seriously considering the 150mm Sigma) it was the sharpest!

Re: recommended macro lens?

I have to chuckle at this point. The original request was for a lens that can be used for both macro work, ie. bugs, and animal & people photography. Both the 60mm and 105mm are very sharp lenses. The wider angle of the 60mm makes it more ideal for portraiture, especially indoors IMHO, the 105mm is better for bugs.

Re: recommended macro lens?

Well my beloved 90mm is going to have to go back to its owner - just when I had negotiated a fair price to buy it too!
Which means I'm on the hunt for a macro of my own.
I want to be able to do bumblebees/flowers but also feet/fingers of babies if I manage to get back into babies.
I'm guessing another Tamron 90mm is going to be my best bet to cover both of those though I am tempted by the Canon 60mm.
How did the 60mm do in the reviews Phil?

Re: recommended macro lens?

LM, I've got a 60mm that you can have a play with if you want, perhaps borrow it over a weekend. I rarely use it now I've got my 100mm. I'm in your area every day (for work) so I can always drop it off or meet you in Attleborough town if you fancy trying it.
Drop me a pm if you are interested.
