Look what I have found (Heron)

Been sorting files and putting the acceptable into Lightroom and found this lurking in the background of one of Alan's fishing snaps. Taken with the tiny Optio I am surprised, now it is blown up you can still see it is a Heron, still think it is good enough to enroll Alan in the I've captured a heron club

Re: Look what I have found (Heron)

Mum and dad say that there's a Heron that flies past their house at about 11.45 every day. Might take my camera along tomorrow and see if I can get a photo!

Re: Look what I have found (Heron)

Not me Azz, Alan was taking a shot of something else whilst fishing and there it was in the background. Would not have got it with the DSLR as I would not have been using that sort of depth of field.

Re: Look what I have found (Heron)

You know Suzi we have, during the summer months, a pair that fly across the field to go down onto the ditch (dyke) that runs to one side of the field and I have never once had a camera in my hand. Like you I stand and stare in wonder at the size of the wingspan as they cruse overhead.

You just reminded me...

When Luke was about four years old, he was outside playing in the garden, and all of a sudden he started yelling and crying, bursting into the conservatory....
I was checking him all over as he continued crying, and couldn't see any blood so calmed him down ,and he started going on about a dinosaur in the garden by the frog pondA Pterodactyl !!!!!

So I took luke back outside to the pond(all enclosed by fences ) and there perched on the fence post was Luke's Pterodactyl ,looking at my pond. It was the biggest heron I have ever seen I still tease him, every time we see one, I shout Pterodactyl!

He is going to kill me for sharing this story too, as he denies it ever happened

Re: Look what I have found (Heron)

Thats men for you, selective memory I can understand the confusion in small boys mind they are very prehistoric looking and I suppose birds and reptiles are the nearest thing we have to the pre mammalian animals.

We will be accused of chatting again, what the hell, it's Christmas.
