RIP Sony A57

Poo...
I spent a goodly time yesterday in Kenilworth photographing the Festival with the A57 and A700 with a view to comparing the 50mm and 28mm primes.

I got what I hoped would be some really good images with both. Only when I got home and tried to take the card from the A57 it made a worrying *Crunch* noise, and the card came out in several pieces. And now it doesn't recognise cards when you put them in. Which is not a good thing.

Luckily the camera is still *just* less than a year old, and in any case has a full no quibble PCWorld warranty.

Oddly the PCWorld warranty phone line, a 24/7 line, puts me through to a phone centre that is closed. So I'm off to PCWorld for 11am today.

In the mean time, here are some shots from the A700 with the 28mm prime:

My first impression at looking at these photos is how intense the colors are! The edges are super sharp too. Did you enhance anything? I think not but the super sharpness and color seem unreal right from the camera..Shirley

Re: RIP Sony A57

The pics are as they came out of the back of the A700, apart from cropping and straightening. I would have liked to have seen how they compared to the A57 which was wearing the 28mm lens, but of course it died on that trip, and the 28mm died shortly after.
I'll have to re-visit the compare/contrast idea with the 50mm and the new 30mm when I visit Edinburgh next week
