Bring Forth The Fatted Calf, My Camera is here

On my way to my friend's parent's home we stopped at a shopping mall to kill some time before proceeding. There was a camera shop in one of the stores and I told Warren I wanted to go in and have some fun hassling the salesmen for a Nikon D7000.

I boldly walked straight up to the two salesmen an asked for a Nikon D7000. He answered. which one, the kit or just a body. I never thought they would actually have one when he announced he had one of each in stock and which one I wanted.

You could have knocked me over with a feather. He brought me out a brand new D7000 in the box for $1200. I slapped my credit card down and now have my new camera. I'll need to call the other camera store in Portland and cancel the other order, which never arrived. How about that for a remarkable streak of luck. I'm thrilled but it is almost midnight here so I'm going to bed one happy man. More to follow.............

Woo hoo that was a great bit of luck.

(I'm surprised you made it to your friend's parent's house - weren't you tempted just to rush home and spend the rest of the day with the camera instead )

Looking forward to seeing the results once you get a chance to play with it

I had a chance to charge the battery and handle the camera for the first time once we reached Warren's parent's home. I didn't have a lens with us so I could only do very basic things like load the freshly charged battery and set the time & date. I've had almost 4 hours sleep and will be online using Nikon's digitutor to set the camera up this morning. There are a lot of familiar menus to my old D90.

Not to worry Phil. After Warren & I left the Camera shop we proceded to the Le Creuset shop for a couple of pieces of fine cast iron cooking pots & pans. I was fully loaded with heavy bags and an empty wallet by the time we returned to the car.

I love to cook so the Le Creuset cookware is almost as exciting as my new camera. Trying hard to get the camera set up the way I like it. I want a single focus point that I can manually choose. Haven't figured out that one yet. I had my D90 set up that way and loved the manual control. - Got it!.
