Re: Bad news & Good news

Sorry you lost your photos.

One thing you should have learnt by now is 'back up your photos'

How you back them up is up to you. I used to Use DVDs but they are too unreliable. After a couple of years, depending on whay dye's were used on the DVDs, some have become unreadable.

I use two external USB hard disks. They only cost about £60 ish pounds each now, and I back up all my work to both disks, just in case one has a failure. Each month, I have a third ext hard hard disk that I store at work, and I copy everything to that and take it back to work, in case something really bad happens like a house fire.

So I have 3 copies of everything, and thus far have not lost any files. I have nearly five years work on these disks, and if you delete the stuff you don't really need you will take a long time to fill up a 500Gb drive.

Cost wise, if you divide the £70 each I paid (so £210 for the three) by five years then they have only cost me £42 a year, and as they will last another 3 years at least they will end up being a very cheap solution in the long run.

Alan.

Re: Bad news & Good news

Got my Digital Photo in the post today
they used this shot, i sent the original where i had cloned the leaf out.

The comments were basically, great shot and location under the pier instead of on top, but it could have done with someone in the shot at the end of the curve or even a self portrait, or crop it on an angle to make it even more abstract ..
My personal intentions were as an abstract photo, as i thought it would look good enlarged on a wall.

I'm pleased with the constructive comments they made. On the original photo i did crop it tight as on the left hand side you could see someone standing on the railings, maybe i should have left him /her in.. Oh well nice to see it in print

Re: Bad news & Good news

Congratulations, it is a beautiful shot, lovely tones, and I hope you will get in enlarged onto a canvas, as your first shot in a publication
The comments they made are fine too, as sometimes they really do rip a picture to pieces
