Promotional Portraits - Thomas Ward

Following my on going project, I conducted a shoot with a solo musician called Thomas Ward.

He is on the verge of releasing an EP entitled 'Liberté'

We ventured out of Birmingham to a small village called Earlswood.

I know by asking for critique I run the risk of ending up hating images, but thats how you learn

Re: Promotional Portraits - Thomas Ward

My opinion is that the first photo is the best when it comes to composition and interest. Photo # 2 creates a vanishing point for the background railroad tracks somewhere in the middle of the subject's brain. You did a much better job of positioning those tracks in photo # 4 that I also like. The last photo has too strong a horizontal element created by the wall seamingly cutting the artist in half. You seem to have a habit of positioning the subject dead center in the photograph. Try to add elements that draw the viewer's eyes to the subject in a third of the frame.

Re: Promotional Portraits - Thomas Ward

I actually like them all mate. I can imagine this sort of pic on a CD cover, bearing in mind you would only see one or two. Perhaps like 1 and 4 best for me... Would be interested to know how you did the shoot, who chose who, whether you discussed a brief and then how you lit the shots... well done.

A great set of pictures. I especially like 2 & 4.

One thing I did notice....looks like he has incredibly long fingers!
