compact vs DSLR

Since I have been using my compact camera I have noticed alot of difference in picture quality from the DSLR's (I know there will be a difference) but i'm finding my compact is lacking in smoothness & sharpness when I take the pictures, some of the photos I have took I have changed the contrast to make the colours stand out more but is there anything else I can change to make it more smooth? Ive even noticed a difference just by uploading them onto this site, other photos seem to keep their picture quality but mine seems to have lost smoothness. But from what I have been reading some photographers still use their compacts from time to time.

Re: compact vs DSLR

Hey Kel, you are right that you won't get the quality from a compact - but, you can still use the other skills to come out with a good picture, mainly framing/composition, etc

When you upload to the web, it's always worth resizing your image in your editing package as websites 'resize' algorithms are usually not as good as proper programs
