Which is the best Zoo you have visited?

Chester Zoo gets my vote for the best zoo. The animals look happy as far as any captive wild animal can be. So much room it really takes at least a couple of days to see everything. I can highly recommend a visit. Great place for taking photos

I've only been to two in this country, Bristol Zoo and London Zoo - and that was when I was a kid.

I'm not really that keen on Zoo's tbh - I prefer places like longleat safari park where the animals are not cooped up in cages and can roam around more freely.

Never been to one, keep saying that I'll go to Chester to take some photo's but still never been

Unfortunately those are the only places one gets to see animals from other countries. I agree most other places are as you describe but the West Midlands Safari Park is another where animals go free as below.

I loved the Cotswolds Wildlife park, and Longleat Park growing up.

But in the UK, Chester Zoo has to be one of the best, I used to go a lot with the kids.

Some zoos are far better than others, and Chester has good enclosures, and does a lot for conservation.


NC State Zoo, is fairly close, and it is unbelievable, massive enclosure, no real cages,mostly natural barriers. The elephant enclosure is so big and natural. Will pop some pics up later to show you the size. All the enclosures are big, we have never done it all in a day, it's in two continents,so we usually do one side each time we go.

Cotswold Wildlife Park by far for me.

You can get really up close and personal at the West Midlands Safari Park....
