Photographic paper

Up to now I have had a stock of HP premium photographic paper, but never again will I purchase this product and I will tell you why. On the back of the paper are markings such as directional arrows which actually show through to the printed side when held up to the light.

At the Focus on Imaging show I came across Ilford "Galarie" professional inkjet photo range (smooth gloss). So today I thought as I am playing with the new Epson PX710W printer I will try out this Ilford paper. Well you could have knocked me out with a feather with the difference a good quality paper makes. First of all there is no horrible printing on the back, the Gram weight is 290gsm/290micron against the HP 240 gms. Not only that it is as close as one can get I suspect to instant drying as well.

The cost for 35 sheets +£11.95 for A4 size
------------100 sheets £21.49 for 7x5 size

For those interested

As in other posts I have said I have not been totally happy with the prints, but now with this Ilford paper I would quite happily make up a portfolio of my work.

I can't do a comparison with other makes of photo paper and there may well be others just as good, however now I have come across this Ilford paper I won't change, infact I have just ordered a load more
