FS: Nikkor 55-200mm f4-5.6 G IF-Ed DX VR

This is the fantastic bang for buck 55-200mm lens with VR that is pretty sought after. Boxed, near perfect condition, excellent value lens for DX Nikons. Very lightweight, ideal travel lens. Better than lugging all the full frame stuff I have to these days.

£135 Delivered by RMSD to UK addresses.

Selling this to established and recognised Yop members in the first instance. Advertising it for one to two days only before I advertise elsewhere. Will take a bank transfer ideally.

This is a cracking lens should anyone be thinking about it.

I would be very interested, but I suppose you can't post to Ireland? As you have specified UK address. Will chat to Karl, perhaps to his parents.

Re: FS: Nikkor 55-200mm f4-5.6 G IF-Ed DX VR

Hi Laura, no probs with that, the only issue would be insured delivery i would guess would be a little dearer, by only a small amount i would guess.

The reason why I put UK was because on another site you include postage, and then someone buying something argued i should post to Eire for the same price as it included postage. The other issue is i am not sure if special delivery covers postage there at a reasonable price or at all. I am sure either can easily be overcome. The lens is excellent condition, hardly used and boxed with end caps and case. I say hardly used, i used it a bit last year and it won me a competition for a jessops voucher!

If you are interested, if you can resolve before i go to work tomorrow I can post or poss wednesday. i am off up north in a couple of days and won't be able to get to a PO easily until next Monday otherwise.

I'm not in a desparate rush, and I need to chat to 'im indoors first - and I was after one of the >300mm zooms, but I have read that this one is much much better than any of those? I think it was this one anyway! Will get back to you!

No, I think I'll give it a miss in favour of the http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/70-300-vr.htm if possible. Sorry about that BC - but I'm sure it'll be snapped up in no time as it's a great offer! But I really do use the extra reach.

Re: FS: Nikkor 55-200mm f4-5.6 G IF-Ed DX VR

Deleted my post, you uploaded as I scribbled a response taking forever as i watched Marple! .

No probs, can easily sell elsewhere.

They are two different lenses, I have both. The 70-300 is lovely but much bigger and heavier. It is a better lens, hence the price is double secondhand. I guess around £300 ish.

Good luck whichever you get!

Re: FS: Nikkor 55-200mm f4-5.6 G IF-Ed DX VR

I got the wrong lens anyway - from reviews it was the (very pricey) 70-200mm f2.8 (that's right I think?) that I was thinking of! I can get the 70-300mm secondhand for about €450 which isn't bad for over here! You've used it, and you say ti's good? Is it worth saving for? Sorry to hijack this thread

Re: FS: Nikkor 55-200mm f4-5.6 G IF-Ed DX VR

The 70-200 f2.8 is part of the Nikon trinity set, used by wedding photographers and others. Excellent performance but it should be at approx £1600 UK! Obviously it gives you no more reach than the 55-200 but gives a better performance but it's approx 10x the price. I have a Nikon 80-200 f2.8, that is really nice too. The 70-300 is a great performer, but as I said, bigger, heavier than the 55-200. The advantage of the latter is very good performance for the money, and very light to carry. With the D300, I often opted not to take the 70-300 whereas the 55-200 could be put in a bag without noticing. The 70-300 does produce some nice, contrasty images though...my only reason for not using it so much is I shoot mainly around f5.6 and that is wide open on the 70-300, but two stops down, better quality on the 80-200.

No problem hijacking the thread, doesn't look any interest here whereas they tend to get snapped up elsewhere quickly.

Final call for the Nikon 55-200mm? Anyone with a DX Nikon you should have this unless you have something more upmarket...great value, good performance and VR at a minimal price. Tempted to keep it myself now as a holiday lens!
