Re: sula Alaskhan malamute

What a gorgeous Mal.

I liked the 1st image when you posted it before, and I have to say, I still much prefer it to the edit I'm afraid

You've done a good job in cloning out the chain. That's one of the things that sprung to my mind when I saw it posted the other day, but I think what you've gone for in the final edit, is just a wee bit too much.

Colour isolation ( in my opinion ) only works in certain circumstances, and even then, it still doesn't work for every image, and I don't think it's worked in this image I'm afraid.

Still, if you're happy with it and it's what you were aiming for, then well done.
I'm sure others will love it.

Personally, I would have cloned out the chain, given the colours a little boost, or alternatively, desaturated the entire image for a nice mono portrait shot.

But we're all different

Re: sula Alaskhan malamute

I do agree with MD - the autmn colours were so gorgeous, it seems a shame to lose them, and they do set the dog off well. I think the clone on the chain is great - and I do like the colour isolation too, but I still like the original

Re: sula Alaskhan malamute

Lovely dog and a great shot too. It's got a nice background and the ferns seem to frame him.

I prefer the original shot to the edit but that's just me.

Re: sula Alaskhan malamute

The original is beautiful (terrific looking dog BTW!), but I think the edit is very effective, making the b/g look all wintery and cold with the dog standing out.
