LightRoom Q&A

Lightrooms Gallery View

Lightrooms Editing Suite

my first question is what exactly does lightroom do ? why is it better ? so im told

Lightroom is a dedicated piece of software, designed for the sole use of editing photographs. It is a Digital Darkroom. The results produced could be replicated in photoshop, but your workflow would be much longer and not as high in quality. Lightroom can do the smallest to the largest of tweaks.

I know i can change colour, constrat and things like that but i rather use photoshop

Photoshop is a great tool, but its a tool none the less. Would you use a screwdriver to hammer a nail?? It could work, but it would take ALOT longer! Lightroom is just as powerful as Photoshop and does the job much quicker and easier!

Re: LightRoom Q&A

Don't laugh but I can't work out how to resize images on it....

Also how do I put text on the picture and save it like that, I did it last night, and can't today.

Also does it have any fancy borders etc, as I can't find them...

So sorry KK

Re: LightRoom Q&A

You can resize images when you export the final edits for saving or further work and also when you rpint or create galleries for the web.

To do this either right click on your image or go to file, select export and use the pop up menu to imput your size requirements and file type.

Also how do I put text on the picture and save it like that, I did it last night, and can't today.
The easiest way to add your watermark is to go into the print module of lightroom (top right) In here you will find something called the identy plate on the left hand menu. Click on the smalle arrown on the bottom left and select edit. You can imut your own text and font or you can upload a graphic. Once you have chosen your new water mark, you can now put your mouse over the image and move it into position

Also does it have any fancy borders etc, as I can't find them...
Basic stroke borders can be added in the print module. Anything more fancy, your looking at plugins. However, you could create a frame in a seperate editing suite with a transparant background and drop it in as an identyplate (same way as we did watermarking)
