Re: Careful landing

I really like that capture Bazza and to be honest the bird feeder doesn't bother me at all. I do like the DoF that you have used

Re: Careful landing

Nice one Bazza

I've said it before - I'd love to have a stab at more 'garden' bird shots but the last time I tempted them the cats did far better than I did.

Re: Careful landing

You should be pleased Bazza, it's wonderful. Oh, if we could only fly like that. You've captured a split second that reveals tremendous detail of what it takes to have a controlled on a small object. The feather placement reminds me of aircraft flaps coming in for a landing. Keep waiting for the wheels to lower.

Re: Careful landing

I never get photos of small birds in flight, so well done on that score. I've never had a problem with feeders either, as long as they are considered as part of the whole composition of the piece, they can actually make an interesting statement about what we are doing for the environment - after all a bird feeder is an important feature in the lives of many birds.

On another note though, you can buy wooden bird feeders, which from one angle just look like a log... or you could nail a bird feeder to the back side of a tree, and make sure it has a few good 'landing' branches on, and just snap when birds land on the branches before or after going to the feeder.

Re: Careful landing

Think that is a wonderful shot Bazza, not easy to capture a small bird with clarity and to do in in flight shows great skill, could not care less about the feeder, if thats what it takes to get the birds where you can photograph and view them then I would not be without.
