Much much better!!!

Thank you Sam and all of you for your help, will remember in future the sky does matter even if there is detail it needs some development if it is overcast. Also any explanation or title should be crisp rather than decorative, common sense when you think about it but I obviously had not.

I prefer the first, great texture on there maybe worth a mono treatment? Would also let you do a little figgle with the sky to bring something out of it

2nd doesn't quite work for me, think cause all the interest is in the rocks for me and prefer the tightness of the crop in #1.

Both pics are nice and sharp, and very good work in what looks difficult conditions.

and this is the above in B & W like this and it brings the sky out even more but looses everything from the trees, guess I need to spend more time.

I'm liking the mono

I have an idea, work with the fact that the trees are black and fill the sky in with black and any patches of sky showing through the trees, so its only the stones in the pic?

Think I will have another go tomorrow and do it with a bit more accuracy and finesse as I am beginning to like it too.
