theres lots of pointers on youtube that are handy like the one that says the moon travels one mile in 1/15th of a sec so a shutter speed around this will blur your picture

The bigger your lens/scope the less time you have to take a image....
If you work the movement of the moon into degrees then the moon travels 1 degree every 4 minutes, 15 degrees every hour and 360 degrees every 24 hours
If you think the moon moves out of view fast set up a tripod and point at Jupiter - Easy to find at the moment, if you look Westerly at around 7ish each night, 2 bright points of light very close to each other are Jupiter and Venus (Jupiter on left)
