Try and shoot in RAW..sure it takes up space but you can do so much more with your shots.

Heavily cropping a shot will also bring out the noise. I wasn't clear in my first shot, for me, I would have gone back to them in PS, and toned down the sharpening, and then reduced noise too.

There's a great little program called Neat Image, which you can download a trial of (only works on resized photos), and that can do great things for a photo that's a bit noisy!
