Re: Post a pic: Wide Angle

When saying " wide angle " it might help to specify the maximum lens one can use. Say 10mm or 12 mm or up to 30mm (extreme limit of wide angle as Phil has already posted) lenses only. Anything above that (in my opinion) does not classify as wide angle. Anything above is a photo taken at a distance not wide angle.

Re: Post a pic: Wide Angle

If I'm not much mistaken (and I may well be ) 50mm is actually classed as wide angle? I do think it is pretty obvious what is meant by the thread though

LM

The whole point of wide angle is the ability of a lens to take a picture wider than normal.
Maybe you have not used a lens of say 10/12 mm which is why you state "no need to get hung up on details ". It could be very misleading to anyone new in photography.

Its a bit like saying "I have sent you a postcard" when you really mean you have sent a letter on a sheet of A4 paper.

Re: Post a pic: Wide Angle

Zounds

50mm is generally thought of as a portrait lens.
Maybe a posting about which mm lens does what and generally used for, but not specifically, may clarify the difference between macro-wide angle -prime- medium/extreme telephoto- fisheye etc would help together with relative f stops and how it f stops can alter a picture
