Re: A misty moisty morning

That is a very nice shot, I am against mono without reason but I think in this case you have reason, in colour this would be just another shot as it is it is very eye catching. Only other comment it does not look straight although the lampposts do or some do and some seem to lean in different directions, perhaps the actual timber constructions are not straight either .

Re: A misty moisty morning

Nice diffused glow here.

As Snapper says, a quick 'straighten' wouldn't do any harm.

Re: A misty moisty morning

I like the lighting, and I think the leading lines in the photo really work. Lovely.

There are no true verticals in the entire shot, or indeed horizontals...one of the reasons I took it.
The shot, incidentally, is in full coour...it really was that colour, straight out of the camera...

There truly *is* no straight...all the uprights aren't, the parallels converge way short of infinity and the horizon isn't horizontal

Re: A misty moisty morning

Gaz, I can now see it is in colour, this morning I really did believe it was mono, just shows first open your eyes, sorry.

I did say I realised that there were no straight lines any where in the shot so it would be impossible to deal with it, first thought would be to level the timber strut at the front but if you did that the lamps would be even more off straight. Still think it is a really cracking shot and one I would have been pleased to have taken.

Re: A misty moisty morning

I love the lighting...looks almost otherworldly! Then again, 6 in the morning is another world to me, certainly one I don't tend to venture into, I like my lie-ins too much!

Re: A misty moisty morning

Same location, on a flat, dull overcast day, with a special guest appearance by Willow The Dog.

I set the picture so the lamp-post on the left is exactly parallel with the verticl grid in the S5800 viewfinder...
