Wade's bridge, Aberfeldy

Taken on Monday the 31st. Went a run to Kenmore (Perthshire), took some pics then went on to Aberfeldy. The weather was very nice here in Renfrewshire on Monday, but, by the time I got to Kenmore it was very cloudy and a little cold.
Taken with my 40d, 17-40mm L using a CPL filter. I took another pic of the bridge on the opposite side of the river Tay, but I had to make this one into a semi-hdr/combine exposures, so that one will be posted in the altered states section.

Guess who came with me?

You guessed right

Re: Wade's bridge, Aberfeldy

Nice shot of the bridge DJ. You can feel the sun on the stone - Nice job on the registration plate too. I hope Loki had a nice time.

We're often up at Kenmore & Aberfeldy as Karen is from Fearnan - just a mile or so along Loch Tay from Kenmore.

I've often thought the golf course bridge (poking up in the background under the main span of Wades bridge) would make a good subject. It's the world's first bridge made from plastic or something like that.

Re: Wade's bridge, Aberfeldy

Very nice Dejavu!

I was just telling kristian yesterday about how the CPL filter will help out the contrast of the sky.

Nicely done....off to see the HDR version

OH, by the way I found my way here via your site, thanks! Can not remember how I found your site..? Are you a member of POTN? That maybe it.

Another note to add, Do you like the 40D and would you buy it again....looking to upgrade to it as I can not afford the 5D at this time. Thanks.

Re: Wade's bridge, Aberfeldy

Lovely pics! i'm looking into getting a cpl filter now (thanks for the tip burntpixel) and just wondering do you leave it fitted to the lens all the time? also does it help to protect the lens? Thanks Kristian

I will take a snap shot this evening to show more detail.

I use the Canon EF-S 17-85 IS lens for most landscapes. With that said, the filter simply screws onto the the end of the lens and can be left there or taken off. With that lens pretty much dedicated to landscape shots, I leave it on most of the time. It is a dark lens and you lose a stop or two. Great for shooting waterfalls with bright sunlight. This enables you to get the silky look with a longer exposure.

As far as protecting the lens? Not really, it may keep dust and finger prints off the front of the lens but with the CPL filter itself being glass it's kind of the same.

I'll post a photo of how it screws onto the lens when I get home this evening. Hope that helps?
