Re: Feed them and they will come

Thanks Kay. I keep meaning to tot up the number of species that we have had in and around our garden over the last few weeks. Must be quite a few now. I am quite pleased with numbers as the area i live is quite built up. They always seem to want to build on every patch of land they can find, and some of the time its pushing some species further afield......But at the same time, put enough food out for them and they will come. The Siskins were a nice surprise, hope to see them back feeding over the next few days. Especially as its going to get colder. Out of Greenfinches and Goldfinches i would prefer Golds in the garden, Green finches apparently are nasty when there is a group of them. The Redwings caught me by surprise, the fact there was 5 of them together. I only expect to see birds like that in one`s and two`s. Especially in an urban setting.
The hope is to bring as many species into the garden as possible, making sure they feed for one, but also learning their habits. And finally giving me some practice photographing wild birds close up, no where to hide in my garden, really open, so sometimes, even if i am sat 20 or 30 feet away from the feeders they will not come close.

Nice set Mark. You're not terrorised by Squirrels then?

Re: Feed them and they will come

Thanks Ken, Dave and Mary.......

Ken, i would of loved to see a Sparrow Hawk in or near my garden at one time, but not with the number of birds around now. Sorry to hear your having that problem.

Dave, no not plagued with squirrels, only ever see one around here, and he seemed to of stayed away since i moved the feeders, although they are more easy picking for him, yet he is still to return.

Mary - We could say the same with the birds you have over there They are beautiful too. Always nice to bring the birds into your garden. Ideally though i would prefer to shoot from outside and not through the kitchen window, but the birds are just too wary, so having to keep kitchen window clean
