New edits of old shots :) Rook and Stonechat

I do rather like these two, so thought I'd go back and re-edit. I think they do look better than the original, but can't find those on here ATM so you can compare - in any case, I'd rather they were viewed fresh and critiqued. I know the stonechat is still slightly soft, there's not much I can do now to rescue it, other than what I've already done, but I was so lucky with the tones and the lighting, I think the softness isn't such an issue

Re: New edits of old shots :) Rook and Stonechat

I like the first photo a lot Zoundz although I would have cropped it to get the bird off dead center higher in the frame. I love the color of the blurred background. A lot of good earth tones there. Do you think it could use a bit of sharpening?

I sometimes wish we in YO were all in a large classroom studying each other's work and brainstorming ideas about techniques and enhancements on a large computer screen. There's so much to learn & teach. I feel handicapped by time & distance sometimes.

I do love your bird photography and pray that you continue to post both old & new shots.

Re: New edits of old shots :) Rook and Stonechat

Thank you very much Bob! I loved the colours in the first one, which is why I've tried so hard to rescue it, as it was very soft due to lens on full stretch and poor light. I have sharpened it a huge amount, I tried doing it some more, but it just looked bad Still, I'm not too displeased with it now, it's better than it was!

I do like the first one and agree with Bob that I personally would have cropped it some. It is a beautiful picture nonetheless and I love its colors and tones.

I'd like to see the original though, if you can find it.

I like them Z If I was being picky I'd say the 1st is a tad soft and the 2nd is a tad too sharp

http://www.yophotographer.com/page.p...ight=stonechat that's the original of the stonechat - you can see it's much sharper in the one above but still too soft.

Well Zoundz I am going to break the rule because although these are in the AOP I will say they are much improved and now defiantly keepers.

Stonechat is a definite improvement on the original Rook does look slightly over sharpened though.

Re: New edits of old shots :) Rook and Stonechat

Lol - I actually didn't sharpen it much over the original - the main thing I did there was to edit out the white blob in the background ( a swan I suppose!) and sharpen slightly, it was pretty sharp anyway!
