Zounds
the blue hue didn't work but the red did as lightening the picture as well incase you wondered what I did. If you do it, use the trees as a guide for the right amount.

Re: Some more shots from Reen...

Think both the colour shots have potential as Bazza has shown, I really like number 4 but think it would be more inviting if it were a little brighter or more exposed.

As to the mono I am one of those strange people who do not like landscapes in mono unless there is some good reason for doing so, in most cases in think the colour adds an extra dimension and is usually what draws the eye in the first place. I do realise that sometimes there is good reason and at other you just fancy doing it but most of the time for me it does not work.

Re: Some more shots from Reen...

I actually completely agree Jackie - which is one reason I don't shoot in b£w - as it happens, I wouldn't have done these at all - but I am trying to find something suitable for a mono camera club competition - and failing :/

Re: Some more shots from Reen...

It would not be right if we all agreed and would not be honest. I have done it, of course I have. A resent shot I took of Boston docks looks good in sepia, an action brought on because someone said that the shot looked old fashioned and indeed it does, particularly in sepia.

Think if when you look at a scene it appears in B & W or you think B & W when you take it then I think it probably should be presented that way.

There are a good number of portraits that look right in mono and I often do it with my hounds but they are in greyscale anyway so using greyscale on them just removes any unwanted cast or colour fault.

Re: Some more shots from Reen...

I think your mono pics are nice, and like the compositition of them. Not so keen on the others. I personally really like the first mono shot, it works well for me.

Re: Some more shots from Reen...

Not all photographs lend themselves to framing and display on a wall. Some are snapshots that you keep to remember an event, place, person. These fall into the snapshot category for me.

Zoundz, If you like your photos why do you need agreement from others? There's nothing wrong with your work. If you'd like the members of this forum to critique your better work then take what they say with a grain of salt.

I read comments about my photos and agree with some opinions and disagree with others. Give yourself permission to disagree and post what you like.
