Our pet name for Sparrows 
Here's one of our resident house sparrows - was not too disappointed with this pic 
I rather like his fluffy feathers. Taken in a rare nanosecond of clear sky! (What you can't see from the pic is the massive bank of black cloud behind me!)

What's not to like?
Is it my imagination, or is there an air of whistfulness in the burdies eye? What has a sparrow got to be whistful at? *ah, the grain of the past, was of such mellow fruitfulness!* ?

Thanks Gaz - and yes, he does have a rather wistful look - perhaps it was to do with the fact that the other male sparrow he was fighting with just flew off with his missus!
