Will images saved on XP work on Vista?
If you take photos and download them to a Windows XP computer then buy a Windows XP/ Vista /Mac compatable external hard drive and save from that Windows XP computer to the external hard drive the pictures.
If you then upgraded to Vista computer would it read those photos off the hard drive.
Easier way of asking
Take pictures download to XP to extrnl hard drive restore onto new Vista computer from extrnl hard drive.
Is this possible?

In short yes. There are exceptions but chances of that are very small.
Just plug in the ext hard disk to your vista PC, and then copy over.

My sister asks me these sorts of questions. A file is a file is a file. It doesn't matter if it's on a floppy disk, hard drive, CD, DVD or flash drive. It will transfer from one medium to another flawlessly.

Bazza - as others have said - YES. I am going to transfer 80GB of images from XP to Vista tonight onto the new laptop Ive just brought. (The time for a dedicated graphics card was long overdue....CS3, Bridge, etc..... Grrrrr)
