Pine cones revisited

I posted a couple of pine cone pics ages ago which I`d taken on my compact, so now the cones are appearing again I thought I`d take some with my Nikon to see if I`ve got any better at that type of shot *hides*

If anyone has time to compare, the old pics are here
http://www.yophotographer.com/page.php?t=5325

For the new ones, they are still a bit high up to get as close up as I will hopefully get when the weight brings them more in reach, but hopefully attention to composition and light considerations are improving at least

Thanks for looking and as always tips and advice are most welcome

Re: Pine cones revisited

You've come a long way in a short time Patch. I love the first & third photos ball there's really nothing wrong with any of the, You're demonstrating good photographic composition and careful control of depth of field. Your exposures are right on the button. Well done!

Re: Pine cones revisited

Super shots patch.

Not really my forte but I can see enough here to say well done.

The cones are pin sharp and you've obviosly got a good handle on the old depth of focus.

Re: Pine cones revisited

Prefer picture 1, anything on, or to do with branches are notoriously hard to get, the slightest bit of wind can ruin a picture. so well done.

Re: Pine cones revisited

Thank you so much everyone

Bazza you are so right about the breeze, there was a breeze when I took the shots so I had to try to keep time for when they swayed a little so I could get the shots at the muments of least movement [ when the cones I were at the lowest `sway point` ], so it was good patience practice too
