Cropping after calibration

I have been having a play with my Sigma 70-200mm lens after recalibrating the lens. Distance approx 86 ft thru window camera at 200mm. Hand held with just a very little sharpening

Taken straight from camera just resized.

Cropped and edited

Didn't come out too bad, far better than before the calibration anyway.

Re: Cropping after calibration

Tight crops will almost always look pixelated Bazza. Try getting closer to your subject - build a photography den - I'd bet you get loads of neat shots round there if you did

The object of the exercise was to see how much difference calibration made, and how far I could crop without getting too much distortion. Had I not calibrated the lens there is no way could I have cropped to this extent.

Obviously,as you say, had I wanted to get a better picture then getting closer is the answer, and its a tip everyone should take heed of.
