Re: Seil Island and Connel

I love the ocean breakers photos in 1,2 & 7. You must be using a very stable tripod setup for those long exposures. Well done!

Re: Seil Island and Connel

No 1 for me DJ.

Smashing stuff.

Can I ask you which website you use to upload your images DJ?

The reason I ask is, every time I click to enlarge your images, they open up almost full screen, and no one else's pictures do that...not even my own.

I thought it might be the resolution you were saving your jpgs at, but I've tried saving files with that resolution and they still only enlarge half the size of yours.

Has anyone else noticed this, or is it just me?

Thanks MD. I have my own website that I use to upload my images but I do save them/resize to always over 1000px on the wide side. I do forget some people will be using much smaller monitors than myself as I use a 24" widescreen, they look average size on mine. I'll try to upload smaller in the future and maybe add links to larger versions

Re: Seil Island and Connel

They first appear large (as the page loads) then they resize small once the page is loaded.

If I click to enlarge they open large (ish) but then if I ckick again on the little magnifying glass they go large filling my widescreen.

Re: Seil Island and Connel

DJ...it wasn't a criticism.
On the contrary! I want to know how to get my images to appear as large as yours. I very much enjoy clicking to enlarge images that catch my eye, and yours always do. And they look even better once I've clicked on them and viewed them almost full screen.
I was just wondering why yours always appear so much larger than everyone else's once you've clicked to expand them. I've tried it out on just about everyone's else's pictures on here, and they all expand to roughly the same size. Your's however, are much bigger.
Like I said, I save my images at exactly the same resolution as you, but once I've posted them, I click to enlarge them, but they only appear 3/4 the size of yours.

Please, do not change how you upload your images DJ.
I'm just curious as to why this happens.

Azz...any ideas?

I think it's all down to how you resize your images in your graphics prog, but I've always assumed that most folk here who generally post smaller images are doing it on purpose because they think there images might get pinched or
maybe using smaller monitors or they look better smaller because of noise or focus issue's etc etc. I'm not sure.

When you resize your images MD forget about changing the original resolution and change the pixel dimensions instead (I always use the percent tab). I usually resize to 25% of my originals while having the "scale styles", "constrain prorportions" and "resample image" checked. and use bicubic method.
Try various % sizes till you get the right size and see how that works for you You should also use a little USM (unsharp mask) after resizing , around 30% maximum should be fine
