Kodak C743 - ISO/Exposure settings?

When I am taking photo's of dogs outdoors, is there any particular setting I should go for, or leave it at its default? Or is this too broad of a question to ask?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Hi Amanda,

On most P&S cameras there should be different 'modes' you can switich to. See if you can find one for 'outdoors' (it will most likely be a picture of the sun )

ISO and Exposure settings are if you want to start manually controling specific things. Check out the sticky thread in the general photography section for some helpful threads that explain ISO etc

Re: Kodak C743 - ISO/Exposure settings?

Looks like you have auto, macro, landscape plus 10 scene modes - auto, portarit, sport, landscape, night, portrait, snow, beach, fireworks, self portrait, close up, backlight, children & party.

If the dogs are running around a lot it might be worth trying out the sport mode as it will have a faster shutter speed. If they sit nice and pose then the other modes would be worth a try. Self portrait and close up would probably have an aperture setting that will throw the background out of focus whilst landscape will do the opposite.

I guess it's a case of having a play and see what you get.

Good luck !

Re: Kodak C743 - ISO/Exposure settings?

Thank you to both of you
I'll have a play with the special settings and see what happens, although if I remember rightly, I still don't get the results I wanted with the sport mode. Thinking about it, it may help photographing some of the birds, so will have a play on Thursday again (and this time remember to put the memory card back in, since I forgot before!!! hence no more pics)
