Moments when you wish you had the camera.

I had one of these this morning. I was walking the dogs through the woods when a few feet in front of me Skye stopped in her tracks and looked up, sat on top of a fence post was sat a magpie staring down at her, she sat looking up at it for about two minutes. I was gutted I left the camera at home today, more so as its unlikely ever to happen again.

What things have happend to all of you when you havent had the camera and wish you did?

ooh so many! I think every time i see something like a pochard... (one of my favourite ducks) I wish i had a good camera with a decent zoom so I could actually get a photo of them... they always are just out of reach of camera!

Re: Moments when you wish you had the camera.

Yes - we used to live in a farm cottage and had a single track lane to get to it. Along the lane we had post and rail fencing and when we came back one evening a Kestrel was sitting on the fence (she used to hunt in the fields behind our house). We pulled up and sat watching her but obviously didn't have my camera on me at the time.

Loads here too. I think mostly it's been for sunsets - some really nice ones where I've thought I wish I had the camera!

Re: Moments when you wish you had the camera.

About 6 years ago when we had a 'big cat' encounter. About 40 yards from where we were - a very large black cat walked slowly along the edge of the field. It was moving slowly enough to see that (from nose to tail) it was longer than the 6 foot gaps between the fence posts which it was behind. We watched it for about 20 seconds before it disapeared into the long grass.

You mean you go out without a camera?? I used to but then found I was always having one of those ' I wish I had my camera' moments so invested in the Ixus ...good to have a good quality point and shoot with you that fits into a pocket or bag

I try to take it out, I have a pretty good point and shoot but when you have a memory like mine it doesnt make a diff. That leads to the times I have took the camera only to find no battery or memory card.
