Finished My studio!!!

Introducing my humble beginnings, and welcoming you to my first studio!

The backdrop is going to be replaced tomorrow with a paper roll, and im going to have to buy a 35mm lens as its a bit cramped with my 50mm. Other than that, im made up

Its far from perfect and really, it needs to be alot bigger, but for now, im happy!

Re: Finished My studio!!!

Looks good K! Well done!

When you start getting a bit of income, I would suggest a new floor or carpet - as first impressions count when it comes to customers. Also, not sure if you need that meter boxed up for health and safety purposes? Esp if you have kids coming round?

I'm sure your work will be ace - good luck!

When's the big launch?

Re: Finished My studio!!!

Thanks Azz

The meter box shouldnt be a problem. Health and saftey have never pulled us up on it before now - but will double check!

Opted not to get a carpet! It would be a mare cleaning it! LOL Hopefully ill get some laminate down on there soon.

Not sure about a proper launch in town just yet, ill se how it works out for me first as the room is quite small!

Re: Finished My studio!!!

Have you thought about doing those shopping centre sessions? Where you hire a spot and set up your kit and take photos of people ad hoc, then they get to order them there and then? Seen quite a few of those in the past - always seem to be taking photos of someone, usually mothers and children. The photography studio staff is usually there everyday up to a week before handing out leaflets that they'll be there on that particular day.

I think they work it so you only pay for any photos you order. Could use it to promote your opening too

Re: Finished My studio!!!

I think that Azz is right that first impressions count BUT I would be more interested in your portfolio. [which I know is excellent].

Sometimes your studio will be the great outdoors anyway I expect, when your on location.

It looks great and starting like this will make you learn what you really need next, rather than starting off with absolutely everything and half of it stays in the cupboard.

WELL DONE YOU.

quick question.....How do you present your portfolio?

Re: Finished My studio!!!

Thanks for the idea Azz but tbh (i may be being stuck uo here) but i realy dont trust those stalls so wouldnt want to present myself that way! LOL

Cheers Jols
The book on the side table is a portfolio - in the front iv got my price list and a copy of my T&Cs and inside i have thumbnail sheets and some A4s of my prints that i got my supplier to do for me

Once i have more work - im going to set up a presentation album for guests to see along with some exmaple prints in frames, acrylics and canvases to go up too

Re: Finished My studio!!!

thats cool.

just wondered about the crb check because

when i took pics of the toddler group they asked me if i had one.

i do because i help out at the school and i just wondered because you will have copies of the childrens pictures.

you know how funny some people can be.

but as you said you will not be left alone with them.

Re: Finished My studio!!!

Looking good Mrs Finney! well done you! The meter box would look better covered up, not from a health and safety point of view, just from a purely aesthetic point of view! The all important first impressions. But it’s looking good! Once again well done you!
