Re: Copyright, and your shots, new legislation- The Digital Economy Bill

I don't like those big Copyright C's though I'd rather make a new attractive watermark, and plonk it in the middle.

I know some photographers, who are going to only put their pics, on their own website ,if this comes in. So if it is lifted , they know exactly where from, and there is no excuse for them not to be contacted.

If I take a great shot, do I put it on the internet??? NoI put it in my portfolio, and if I thought I could sell it, contact someone suitable. If I had my own website I would post it on there obviously, but I don't

Part of me, is thinking that so many great photographers, managed to survive before the internet, by working hard, and word of mouth, and showing people their portfolios.

Anyway, it hasn't come in yet, so I guess this is all guess work

Thanks Moonie.
Thats reassuring.

I'll start adding the copyright information, but I'm not sure I want to put my name across my photos yet.
I have this little glimmer of a dream in the back of my head that I might just one day possibly maybe set myself up as a real photographer and I don't know if I'll want my current photos being connected with that.

I understand that totally I am at a crossroads at the moment. I am starting to do bits of work, maternity, newborn, kids, and none of it is on the web at the moment, as stuff on Flickr, here, other forums is my personal stuff I do for me. Does that make sense?

I have a portfolio with my portrait work in, as I am not too comfortable putting other people's kids on the internet. I have permission from their parents that whenever I get round to finishing my website, I can use some of the shots. But one parent has said no, and I totally understand, and at the moment, and TBH always, it is more important, to have a happy parent, who feels comfortable with you. I got permission to use one of the maternity shots to post for the TOTM, but she wanted no underwear, boob,or stretch marks showing. Again, I understand, they are private photos.

The only reason I put my name on mine, is I have had pictures pinched ,and it really peed me off

Also you can do what I do , every so often just delete loads of your Flickr,so it better represents where you are.

I think I have gone Off Topic Sorry xxx

Re: Copyright, and your shots, new legislation- The Digital Economy Bill

Nobody pinches mine I'm just not that good I do copyright my rat stuff, though I've little need to, as although rat stuff is regularly nicked by eejits, mine is very instantly recongisable and so people let me know

I think the whole legistlation thing is utterly awful though, and hope it doesn't pass
