Orion and Flame nebulae

Been a while since I stripped, re-greased and tweaked my mount that I thought I would give it an airing tonight as the sky was clear and the moon was not spoiling the view. I also had been wanting to test a new 2" light pollution filter I bought a while ago as well.

Everything went wrong the mount's gears were grinding and making a racket and the goto functionality was way off, even though I spent ages aligning polaris. And if that was not enough, my power pack was not fully charged and only lasted a short while. I'm suprised I even managed to get any exposures at all. I'm glad I did not drive to a dark location somewhere miles away

These are single exposures

1) Orion m42. 92 second exposure @ ISO 2000, 5d MKII

2)Alnitak and flame nebulae ( part of Orion's belt) 91 second @ ISO2000

I'll have to sort out my mounts grinding gears problem and try to figure out why my GOTO's were completley off, before I try again. The LP filter was a good buy, so, hopefully next time I'll get longer exposures and maybe I'll stack exposures for better detail.
