P&S Mushroom

I've been testing the capabilities of my new toy, a Nikon Coolpix S550 Point & Shoot. Since I'm too old & fat to get on the ground to shoot wee things I simply placed the camera at ground level, composed & shot this little mushroom between the cracks of the sidewalk in front of me. It just shows you that you never can tell when a "Kodak Moment" will arise.

Re: P&S Mushroom

Now I am interested, where can you purchase a P & S mushroom

That aside your new toy is a cracker, have to say I was forced by the luggage I could carry to only take my Nikon compact P80 and I am very pleased with what I managed with it, ok, a bit frustrating at times but over all it was more than adequate.

Re: P&S Mushroom

What some folks tend to forget is the creative process that is photography. The camera is just one tool in that process. Your creative mind really does the work. Some will travel many miles to get just the right scenic shot, with the right weather, sky & lighting. That's all well & good but don't neglect that mushroom under foot and pass it by.

The P&S camera, properly used, has a wealth of features like macro mode, white balance adjustment, image stabilization & autofocus. Now, with the advent of 10.0 megapixel P&S cameras you've got a lot of latitude with post processing to get amazing photographs of seemingly ordinary things.

If I hadn't simply looked up to notice the sunrise or down to notice a tiny mushroom I would have missed out on God's glorious creations.

Re: P&S Mushroom

I think they are a great topic for photography - if you see another, try to get a little lower and catch a bit of the underside Nice shot!

Re: P&S Mushroom

LOL If I remember correctly that was my joke Azz. This is my first journey into macro photography and I shot it on a whim. I was so impressed with the results I just finished printing a borderless 8.5 x 11 glossy on HP canvas back premium paper. Wow! That photo is really in sharp focus. I need to find more mushrooms growing along the top edge of a wall so I don't have to get on the ground. LOL

Re: P&S Mushroom

Nice shot bob! clear, crisp, and surprisingly well framed for a 'quasi-blind' shot.

You are right about our propensity to miss out on God's creations as we bustle about our daily business - it's only when we stop and stare that we realise that photo opportunities are everywhere!

Keep snapping.
