Re: Day Tripper

thanks for looking Stanokella
Ive just had this from another site ,can anyone translate to english for me hahahahahahahahaha

If this was photographed in England, it is a phenomenon rarely observed in the natural habitat of this part of the world, for it is undoubtedly the larval stage of the development of an uncommon species of zebra.

The adult zebra mate during the late summer months, when males and females meet where their paths cross - usually at banded high contrast locations. The females each then lay one or two small eggs in the grass and, a few days later the zebra larvae hatch. They feed voraciously on dying grass (the brown leaves and stems) for the next three weeks, increasing their mass and volume 10-fold. The image shows a larva that is only a day or two before pupation - note the dark and light patterned markings characteristic of the species.

In the photo, the zebra larva appears to be stationary, almost as if fixed to the ground. However, it is not well-known that they move around to collect their food, though this has yet to be observed. They seem to possess a remarkable sensory system capable of detecting other creatures, and this is thought to contribute to their evolved survival mechanism - when others approach they stay perfectly still, resembling toxic fungi so effectively that any potential predators leave them well alone. Surprisingly perhaps, their sensitivity extends to the presence of technology (though this is not understood), such as that found in any type of camera, causing them to exhibit the same motionless state when photographed or filmed - behaviour sometimes called penolycannikophobia.

To continue this zebra’s life-cycle, when they have consumed all that they require, the larvae burrow about a centimetre into the soil where they pupate. In the UK and places of similar or even less appropriate climate, this seals their fate - no zebra pupa has ever been known to survive the winter. However, in their natural environment such as the Serengeti, they remain dormant until their metamorphosis during the following spring. In their final stage the young zebra emerge unsteadily from their pupal cases in the soil, at some time during the first day of April, to graze in the warm sunshine on the grassy plains.

(The true nature of this entire incredible story should be clear, and this post is intended purely and simply to entertain not to educate. Its resemblance to a typical genuine natural history article is not entirely coincidental.)
