Re: Stained Glass Windows

Whites aren't blown out on mine, so it's worth noting this does affect how we see other peoples pictures if we are going to C&C them. Seems to be good reproduction of the original window artwork Alan.

Re: Stained Glass Windows

I love them all, I always marvel at the skill of people who make such gorgeous pieces, sometimes centuries ago, can't pic a fave

Whites are good on mine too

I think it is definitely worth it getting your monitor calibrated, as Alan said about his, my new one, was more or less spot on straight out of the box though! Mine is a HP and really could not be happier with it, the picture is just awesome.

Re: Stained Glass Windows

Thanks Suzi I do feel a bit of a cheat when I photograph Stained Glass windows, it's like I am stealing their work

But as you say, the detail in the older windows is amazing.

Alan, it's not cheating,it's giving them a new lease of life in another art form
It is no different than photographing wonderful buildings, details, objects, they have all been created by someone else.

Yeah, I could seriously spend hours gazing at windows like these, the details blow me away, plus the difference the sun makes to them as it moves position. Not at al religious, but love old churches and cathedrals, some are just amazing.

Im not religious either, and I love old churches. The reason I say 'cheating' is because when we photograph buildings we add our own 'perspective' wich is something very difficult to do with a window. It's like photographing a painting, you want to capture the painting, so using a different perspective would ruin it. So essentially you have 'copied' someones work. I know I am not claiming it to be mine, but that is why I said it feels a little bit like 'cheating'

But someone has to do it so it may as well be me right

hehe,
Alan.
