Yes - some differences in terminolgy here to over there

Your Red Headed Turkey buzzard is just called a Turkey Vulture here although we don't get them in the British Isles

Your Black Buzzard is what we call a Black Vulture here but again we don't get them in the British Isles

American Vultures come under the heading 'New World' vultures.
http://vultures.homestead.com/NewWorld.html

European, African, and Asian vultures are classed as 'Old World' vultures.
http://vultures.homestead.com/OldWorld.html

We don't class our Common Buzzard as a vulture and with a wingspan of 100cm - 125cm, it's much smaller than our own Eagles and the birds we do call vultures.

We don't have that many 'raptors or 'birds of prey' here but here's what we do have........

Re: Buzzards in the garden

Thanks Ken - it's a good simple guide to descriptions so I like it.
