To me your second photo is much better - but I have to say I think it's just not quite right on focus, it's ever so soft :/

It's nothing personal, just that on a web site for photography I am looking for pictures that cross the dividing line between snaps and photographs with some interest and technical excellence. The bakers stall is a record shot of the stall, a little soft, had the picture had the stall holder laughing and joking with a customer, a great expression on his face then it would be something different. I have hung around the markets of Leicester and the stall holders and customers are generally very wary of very obvious big fellas with big cameras. I could easy take pictures of the stalls, but not the candids i have been hoping for. I may post one or two up later so you can get your own back! You are welcome to C&C some of those I have posted recently. I'm no expert, I know the theory, all the kit but no idea I did C&C with the best of intent, hopefully when you are next out you can wait for that split second that makes a difference between a picture of the stall and a picture that nobody else has.

This is better but you have focused on the sign at he back and not on the lovely breads, a wider dof would have helped with this. What lens were you using? If it was the Canon then you need it at the wider end and as higher aperture number as the light would allow.
