Hope the price comes down again soon

Re: 55-200m a good walkabout lens?

Azz

If your going for the Nikon 70-300mm lens Phil bought my non VR as I decided that for me the VR version is better. The whole thing about VR or no VR comes down to when and where you are going to use the lens. If most of the shoots with it are going to be on a tripod then there is no need for VR, however should most be hand held and at the 300mm end then go for the VR version. The other advantage using a VR lens is when its windy, that is when a VR lens definately comes into its own.

As a walkaround lens I am happy with the 24-120 mm VR lens, ok it may not have the reach but is a good compromise between wide angle and distance, ideal for landscapes etc.
