Nikon 18-35mm f3.5-4.5 ED

Decided to sort out my lens collection. So, first up for sale is the excellent Nikon 18-35mm f3.5-4.5 in excellent condition, optically perfect, very clean, fully working... this is an excellent lens on FX full frame, or if you are using DX and intend to upgrade as you have to jump to the very pricey 17-35 or 16-35 to get any better at about 3x/4x the price. Not a great deal of use as I tend to shoot at longer focal lengths than this and have several lenses around this focal length anyway. Warranty expired.

Comes boxed, with pouch, hood and includes RMSD. £195

Putting it here for a day or two so let me know if interested before I move it on...

Is this very much better than the 18-135? Probably a stupid question, but I can't *really* afford/justify new lenses, and it looks lovely and a good price Have you got any examples of any shots with it?

Re: Nikon 18-35mm f3.5-4.5 ED

Hi Laura, thanks for your interest. It is, but I wouldn't recommend this lens if you are staying on DX and already have this focal length covered. If you were staying DX and want w - i - d - e I would suggest the Sigma 10-20mm at around £270 secondhand. If you are happy with the focal length (18mm+) and want sharp and fast aperture, fixed at f2.8 get a Tarmron 17-50 or the Sigma 18-50. Have the latter and I won't sell it whilst I have my D300, it's razor sharp. The Nikon 18-70 is also better than the 18-135 but you don't gain anything on f stops.

This 18-35mm is better suited to a full frame camera in which case you are struggling to find a decent optic at a good price if you can't afford the expensive and faster Nikon wide angle zoom that tend to be £650+ secondhand. Also good for someone starting to acquire FX lenses before swopping like I did.

If you really think it is for you, I'll send some test pics.

Re: Nikon 18-35mm f3.5-4.5 ED

Thanks for the considered reply BC very helpful. I will quite likely go full frame at some point, but not for a while, and I think I'm best off passing on this for the reasons you stated!

Re: Nikon 18-35mm f3.5-4.5 ED

Ok, just a quick update... suprisingly I discovered this lens is pretty popular among DX format users as well particularly as DX shoots through the centre of the glass making it even better so something to consider.

Anyway, I am technically going to withdraw this lens from sale here as I will put it on another forum with a wider audience. Should anyone be particularly interested, pm me and I might still have it.
