Inversnaid, Loch Ard & Loch Arklet (The Trossachs)

I went a run to Loch Arklet on Sunday as I have never visited this Loch before. I also decided to continue driving to the end of the road at Inversnaid, another first for me. The weather forecast was not accurate as there was quite a few showers throughout the day but the change of light/weather made for some interesting captures.

Exif data available on all images.

1)Loch Ard

2)Inversnaid waterfall (20 second exposure, B+W 6stop & Hoya CPL)

3)Shame about the breeze

4)Loch Arklet & Arrochar mountains (Lee 0.6 GND hand held over 70-200mm lens)

5)Highland cowscape

6)Loch Ard

Another fine set of images DJ.

I too love the image of the cow, and although I think people can sometimes be too quick to say " I'd crop this.." or " I'd clone that.." something inside me is dying to clone out the yellow tag on his left ear.

It's a fine capture none the less

Thanks MD.

Yes, the Highland coo seems to be a favourite from this set that I have posted here and on another forum. I'm a bit disappointed that I was unable to get a correct exposure on the cow without over exposing the background (and vice versa), and so, the colours look a little washed out and lack contrast as I had to use the shadow and highlight sliders in Canons DPP to balance it out.

I'd like to go back to this spot again when the Sun is in a differant position in the sky and get a better exposure of the cows and mountains

And I agree about the green tag when viewing full size

Oh...it's green?

I wouldn't mind going there myself. It looks stunningly beautiful and tranquil in all of your shots.

In fact...we should all go!

Seriously...you, me, Phil, Pepsi ( I'm running out of Scots here ) and of course anyone else who would be willing to make the journey north.

We should have a mini YOP field day.

You always seem to find the best locations DJ, lol

Ooops Your right MD it is yellow, no idea why I thought it was green

Just before I got an e-mail notification for a new reply on this thread, I was looking at information, images etc for Elgol in Skye where I'm hoping to travel to very soon. And while researching I have stumbled upon another place not far from Elgol, "the fairy pools of Glen brittle" Sligachan, which look absolutley stunning and just mesmerizing on the images I have seen of them. So hopefully I can get a few shots there as well. I know you have holiday'd on Skye somewhere but have you visited this part of Skye, MD?

Yes, we could have a yoppers day out in the Trossachs, or depending on how many yops come along, Glencoe might be a better bet as I feel that area is more accessible and easier to navigate than any of the lochs (excluding loch lomond) and routes to the trossochs.

When I'm looking for new places to photograph I just use Google earth and scroll in and out of places around Scotland especially places near to the coast and around Lochs. And once I find a place I get as much info on it as possible including any images on the internet so that I know roughly what I might want to image at that particular place, but usually I came back with a totally differant image than what I'd imagined

I'm also one for continually stopping on my route when I think a photo-opportunity presents itself but usually it does not work out like I hoped

I'm due a wee trip up to Glencoe.
I haven't treated myself to a wee photography day for a long time now.

As for Skye...no, we never visited the fairy pools, but I'm gonna check them out online as soon as I've finished typing this, because they sound too good not to!

Oh..and great tip there about Google Earth. I hadn't really thought of that before. I've always pretty much just set off in the morning and HOPED that I would find something nice to shoot, but I know that's clearly not the way to do it.

MD
