Help me choose a P&S

Hello all,

Needing a little help,
Am after a point and shoot camera that also records a little video.

We currently have a Canon Power Pro 1, which is great but too bulky to carry around in my handbag, so would really like a little camera intended for taking to parties, weddings, out on day trips etc, but that also has the capacity to produce really nice piccies if i did want to get them blown up etc..

Mostly piccies of child and dog !!

I was looking at the Panasonic TZ7 and the ZX1, but not sure about either of them as both get some borderline reviews.

Can anyone suggest something I might not have considered.

Needs to be under £200, small enough to fit in a handbag/pocket and with a good lense, I like the attraction of a wide angle lense and decent zoom too.

any help would be most appreciated....

Re: Help me choose a P&S

I have always liked the quality of the Sony compacts, as well as the offerings from Nikon, Canon and Panasonic.

How about the Panasonic TZ7 or TZ6? At £239 and £179

Re: Help me choose a P&S

I have £100 Jessops to spend on a P&S (after my insured camera was unfixable).
My plan is to wait until the sales and see then what is a good buy. There are soooo many in the £100 - £150 range that all seem to be of similar quality.

Re: Help me choose a P&S

I'd go for a Panasonic, as I have a couple of their P&S, and love them. The lenses are Leica and I think the quality is superb , and they are tiny

I am slightly biased, but I love mine, take it instead of my DSLR when I am travelling light x

The above all sound good cameras, but I'll throw Pentax into the mix too - as I loved all my old Pentax compacts

Thanks, would prefer something with a bit of optical zoom too, which is why I hadnt considered the T series, but thankyou, they do look good too.
