Skimmers







I was able to get very close to these at MINWR...here they stay far off but these were comfortable with people close. Black Skimmers..Shirley

I am so jealous! This is a bird I've always wanted to see. Apparently they get African Skimmers in Gambia, so I'll look out for them when we go there!

Thanks everybody for the nice comments...did you notice that the top bill is shorter then the lower one? And it is slightly to one side..a cross bill effect?
No, I haven't gotten pictures of them skimming as they are very fast...very!
They swoop down and skim the water surface and go up again to circle and do it again...Shirley
