A few pics from Silverstones Walter Hayes Trophy

I went up to Silverstone for a bit of an outing during Sunday as I was very kindly given some tickets. Although my wife had got other plans (read jobs) for me, so she wasn't best pleased. Any way here are a few pics taken through the fencing.

I just can't believe the high standard being achieve by members since the group started, it has just gone up and up. Here is another typical example of different photography from landscapes where the challange is to bring not only a sharp photo to look at, but depicts and captures the action as well. Needless to say again outstanding pictures let alone the difficulty of getting the right position to take them.

Thanks Azz, I had to crop these quite heavily because of lack of reach then re-sized and a small amount of sharpening.

Thank you Bazza, high praise indeed . I was very pleased with how well the keepers looked, which was about 72% of the shots I took that day.

It was a day where I had set out to try different things from my norm with my new lens combo. Some time ago I had tried shooting through the fencing at Silverstone before and all had some degree of the fence showing, even with shooting the widest aperture and as close to the fence as possible.

This was a typical result:

So this time around the sun was to the side, instead of behind so this seemed to help a great deal.

Next I sat directly on the ground to get a more engaging shot of driver & car.

A couple more:
