Silverstone - Renault World Series 2010

I went up on the Sunday.

I had come down with a cold, so the idea was to wrap up warm and go up for a few hours to mainly practise my panning, as I've not used my new lens combo at track side yet. But the windiness of an ex-airfield soon dried the nose and I ended up staying longer.

Love the eyes of the driver being overtaken in the this shot (click for large image):

Awesome detail when you click for large on the eyes in the first shot.

Which body/lens were you shooting with ?

Re: Silverstone - Renault World Series 2010

Nice work, Formula 1 car works best for me.

#1 feels like it needs a tighter crop just concentrating on the interst of the drivers. #2 is too tight in the frame, jut my opinion feel free to ignore me

Thanks for looking Zoundz, I'm glad I ventured out despite the cold I had at the time.

Thanks Phil, I took the 1DmkIII and my new 300L with a x1.4 convertor attached. It's the first time I've used this lens combo track side and it took a little getting used to the fixed focal length, instead of the flexibility of the zoom (100-400L) I used before for these type of events.

I stood on a bank at Stowe bend and the cars just fitted into the frame with a little bit of space to spare which made them harder to get in the middle every time, but it was fun trying.

I had about 10% softish pictures (deleted ~40 out of ~400) and about another 25% not entirely in the frame, so didn't make it through the PP stage.

Hi Steven

Certainly not going to ignore your opinion, because if I'm truthful I have a lousy eye for composition and for me the hardest part of photography is knowing what makes a great shot.

So thanks for the feedback it is very helpful to me, so please keep it come.

Combined - that's a pretty high % of keepers - looks the the 1.4X & 300 is a hit.

Unlike the 40D I tried my 2X TC on the 1D Mark II with the 100-400 and I'm pleased to say that I'm getting Autofocus on the centre point
