CaptureNX versus CS3

I've just downloaded the 30 day trial of CaptureNX - thought I'd try it out first in case I want to sell my copy that came with my D300.

Off the peg, I think it is much better as it is obviously more intune with Nikons NEF format, and the pictures just seem to come out nicer.

With CS3 you have to create your own profile, and I think I got a pretty good match - however I think I still slightly prefer CaptureNX's way of doing things.

For the purpose of this thread I have upped the sharpening on both so you can get a better idea of the detail (because they are resized for the web).

Which ones do you prefer?

CaptureNX - Pic 1

CS3 - Pic 1

CaptureNX - Pic 2

CS3 - Pic 2

The differences are very subtle. Look at the hay in the bulls mouth in CS3's version of pic 2 for example.

What do you think? One stand out more than the other for you?

Re: CaptureNX versus CS3

not overly... i think the second in both cases has the slight edge, but to be honest, i don't think they're different enough to make too much difference Perhaps both are good for different things?
