A new Tetra

One of the most difficult subjects to photograph is fish . . they're a nightmare . . this one's a Beunos Aires tetra . . . it's a new one on me as I had'nt seen them before . . . they're about 2 inches long with fantastic colours.

Only ever imaged fish using a compact myself. Mostly unsuccessfully i may add, especially when photographing fish in aquariums through glass and being unable to take an image without flash as it is usually too dark. And the fact they do not stay still for 2 seconds.

Well done Nero, not easy is it to photograph them, I find the smaller, zippier fish much harder to capture. We have 6 Buenos Aries Tetra, love watching them school together. Great capture

You've done well getting that shot.

We've a few (Zebra Danio, Ghost Catfish, Peppered Cory, Red Tailed Shark) and I don't think I've managed one shot anywhere near that clear.

looks a lot better in the bigger picture, nice and sharp. I've not tried to shoot fish, although there is a nice tank full of small colourful fish at work, so I will have to give it a go.

Very nicely captured. I got a few pics of fish at our local aquarium center not long ago. I got lucky with a few but they are hard to get into focus. Well done.

I agree fish in aquariums or ponds are hard to capture, but this image looks very good to me

Thank you kind people . . . as you all say, it aint easy getting a decent shot and flash is outta the question because of refection on the glass aquarium.

Nice fishy! I'm not too awful at taking fishy shots... having said that, not tried in a very long time! Nicely caught, though a shame about the dirty glass. Perhaps taking a photo of the fish when it's further from the glass might help?
