I was trying to post this yesterday, but had problems posting in the Photo News section

This has been on the cards for a while, and I think I posted the Sony rises on here last year, their cameras (allegedly) went up 12%, I don't know what the Sony prices were, so can't comment on whether they went up or not.

Canon have not said what will go up, and like a lot of people I have bought what I want this week, because I have been told of rises of up to 20%, and if your spending in the hundreds that's a big rise.

I'm not going to urge other people to go out and spend now, as the price rises are as yet unknown (and some of the rise may be soaked up in the retailers margins, as they are having problems selling now).

After all, if Canon and Nikon up prices, and sales hit the deck, what are their options?

Re: photographic price rise

Lucky I'm sat in a hotel room in Watford waiting for the three camera shops to open tomorrow then, isnt it!

Living in Cyprus I have already fallen victim to the weak £.

My wages are paid by the gov't in £ sterling and then converted to € to enter my Cypriot bank account - which means since my arrival here exactly one year ago, I have taken an involuntary pay drop of 35%, and have also had to endure an additional 35% to my cost of living, to add insult to injury!
